Services

Medicaid

Most people know that medicaid is available for individuals who are having a hard time paying for insurance and/or medical services. What many people aren't aware of is that medicaid is also available to children with special needs, despite the fact that their parents may earn more than the allowable income amount. Medicaid will help cover the costs of doctors, specialists, therapists, hospital stays, etc.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Many parents choose to apply for SSI for their child. If your income falls under a certain amount, you may be eligible for a monthly check. If your child is accepted for SSI, he/she will be eligible to receive standard medicaid without having to renew every 6 months.

Early Childhood Intervention (ECI)

Early childhood intervention is extremely important for children with disabilities and special needs. You may choose to use the services of ECI or you may make arrangements with a private therapist. The advantage of ECI is having a group of therapists who will come to your home, the home of a family member or even your child's daycare center for evaluations and sessions. A service coordinator will work with you to make sure your child is receving all care and therapy he/she individually needs. The service coordinator can also be on hand to assist you in choosing the best place for your child to attend preschool classes and will act as a mediator between you and potential teachers.
